What's wrong with my Truck's AC system?
If your AC system is blowing warm air, it could be the result of a coolant leak. The leak might not show up under the truck and there may be no warning lights or other indicators, just a lack of cold air. The leak could be due to a worn-out seal, early wear and tear on components or physical damage from an impact. The leak could also be originating from a cracked or failed gasket in the evaporator or condenser. A hose with cracking or loosely or improperly connected might also be the problem.
Some Dodge Ram owners also report having electrical issues with the climate control system. These reports include instances of total failure — with warning lights on the dashboard — as well as instances of intermittent on and off failure. Some individuals reported their AC units would turn on and off while driving without warning.
Yet another possible cause of weak cold airflow could be a broken blend door. The blend door either allows fresh air to come into the cabin or closes off outside air and recirculates air that is already inside the cabin.
Your Dodge Ram's AC has a hose called the Orifice Tube. This tube connects the air conditioner’s condenser to the radiator. It also connects to the evaporator. If this is damaged or clogged with debris, the refrigerant can't move through the system. Some owners reported their air conditioning system would not turn on when this happens. It is more common for the system to work, but without the refrigerant reaching all components, it will just blow hot air. The system will still operate — turn on and off — in most cases, making it easy to assume this problem is related to the refrigerant.
